1 Fabulous Way to Move Forward Instead of Floundering

1 Fabulous Way to Move Forward Instead of Floundering

I am easily discouraged.

Most days, I doubt my crazy is going to change.

I end up floundering instead of moving forward because I am focused on the failures instead of God’s faithfulness.

Thankfully, I have a voice of reason in my life. His name is Craig Huston. He’s the pastor who stood at the end altar beside Bruce on the day I limped up the aisle to officially start my journey as Mrs Dunbar.

These days, Craig is no longer working at the church, but he started coaching. And, we signed up immediately.

At first, I thought we were just being helpful to Craig — He was starting a new business, and we wanted to be supportive.

Boy, was I in for a surprise!

We meet once a week by phone, and every week, he nudges me out of lethargy. He asks tough questions. He makes me think.

When I figure I am stuck in a box of impossibility, my coach tells me to look up and work harder to climb up and over the edge to find the Light.

He encourages me to “do it scared.”

Meeting regularly with Craig has taught me I can’t wait around for the crazy in my life to subside. I must walk through the mire toward the mark God has placed before me.

Working with a coach has helped me push past doubt and fear toward my God-given destiny.

I stopped making excuses.

I started setting goals and taking steps to change my life.

I stepped out of my comfort zone and allowed God to stretch me.

I said goodbye to stagnant living and kicked open the door for the Holy Spirit to move in and clear out the cobwebs of stinkin’ thinking.

Friends, working with a coach has made a huge difference in my life.

This week, I am officially launching my own coaching practice and starting to work with clients — because I want to give back and help others ignite a wildfire faith. To celebrate, I am inviting you to join me for a fabulously fun Facebook party on Thursday evening at 9 PM EST. I will broadcast live and giveaway a few cool prizes.

5 Benefits of Working with a Biblical Life Coach

On Monday, I jumped on Facebook and did a quick live broadcast on my birthday to announce the Facebook party. I shared 5 reasons why you need a Biblical Life Coach:

One fabulous way to move forward instead of floundering is to focus on God’s faithfulness instead of our failures.

The missionary Elisabeth Elliot said, “The secret is Christ in me, not me in a different set of circumstances.” My prayer for you and I is that we will continue to press on in every circumstance and passionately pursue the Christ who sets our heart on fire.

I’ve created a one-page printable of this quote to remind you Christ is presently at work in your life despite your crazy circumstances. Download a copy and post it where you can see it regularly to remember He has a grander purpose for your present pain. Sign up today as a member of the Wildfire Faith Community and  grab a copy in our Faith Fuel Library.

  2. I just read another quote of Elisabeth Elliot’s this morning, that we don’t know how crooked our thinking is until we line it up with the straight edge of Scripture. It always helps to have someone help us do that. I’m glad that you’ve had that in your life and are now helping others in the same way.

    1. Debbie: You are sunshine in my life. Seriously. Thank you for helping me with my technical issues at the party. I will forever be thankful for you!!!

    1. Girl, I am. I am shaking my boots most of the hours of the day. But, your friendship helps me push past it. — Thank you for nudging me in the right direction. You are God’s gift to me, and I am sharper because you are in my life. xo

  3. “I can’t wait around for the crazy in my life to subside. I must walk through the mire toward the mark..” So much wisdom you’ve brought in this post and, in your writing, and I’m sure in your new counseling ministry. Blessings in all you do!

    1. Aw, thank you, Sandra! I love that we can share our hard earned wisdom with each other on the blogosphere. You are a blessing, — thank you for sharing your wisdom with #FaithOnFire each week!!!!!

  4. Congrats on starting your coaching practice, Lyli! And it’s so encouraging to hear how your coach helped you to face your fears. We all need people like that in our lives when the struggles of life get too heavy for us to carry on our own. Thanks for this vulnerable peek into your life and the challenges it puts before each of us!
