Does My Life Reflect God is What I Want Most?
Sometimes we are scared to ask ourselves “Do I know what I want most?” because our hearts are divided. Today, I am delighted to welcome my wise friend, Crystal Storms, to encourage us to pray: “Lord, give me an undivided heart.”
“What do you want most?” I pondered her question on the drive home. Webster defines most as “greatest in quantity, extent, or degree.”
I respond Jesus is what I want most. But in the quietness of the car, I ask: Is that true or what I think I should respond? Does my life reflect He is what I want most? Does my heart reveal Christ is my everything?
I seek God the first part of my days. I give Him the first fruits of my finances. I gather with believers on the first day of the week.
He’s first in my life, but God doesn’t want just my first or even my most. He wants my all, my whole heart. He promises in His Word:
And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13, NKJV
I want Christ to be my all, my everything.
Then I feel the restlessness in my heart as I catch a glance in the mirror and notice gray hairs reaching for the sky. I long for something new and shiny as I browse my favorite kitchen supply store’s small appliances. I become frustrated with my journey when the number of posts on my blog taunt me with thoughts that I should be further than I am.
Discontentment in my heart reveals Christ is not my everything. It exposes a lack of trust in God’s plans and His ways. It uncovers my desire to control my circumstances.
I’m guessing you want Christ to be your everything too. You long for a fiery faith that walks in the truth He is more than enough. You desire the peace that comes from the assurance that in Him you have all you need.
But discontentment may pierce your heart as you scroll through polished, filtered photos of smiling faces. Distress may rear up when a friend shares her latest success, and you wonder if God will ever grant your heart’s desire. You may become discouraged at your lack of progress even though you plug away at your goals.
Jeremiah wrote to exiled Jews during their captivity in Babylon. They wanted freedom, but what they needed was to know God was with them. They needed hope in the midst of their trials.
The text continues in verse 14:
“I will be found by you, says the Lord …”
God promises all of Himself when we seek Him with all that we are. He said it, and we can stand on it. When we seek Him, we find Him.
We find His smile as we recall we are wonderfully made. We discover evidence of His presence in the goodness we already possess. We uncover His joy when a loved one calls to check in on us. We recognize His grace in our journeys when a friend remarks how far we’ve come.
God is in the business of heart change. Let’s ask Him to do what we could never do on our own, change our hearts.
Lord, give me an undivided heart, one that wants You more than anything else.
When Christ is our all, we can rest in who we are. We don’t need to work to earn His love or prove our worth. We can experience peace knowing what we have or don’t have is evidence of His loving hand in our lives. We can move forward confident in what He’s called us to do. We can rest in the truth that when we seek Him, we will find Him.
Remind yourself of this truth: God promises all of Himself when I seek Him with all that I am.

The Pray Big Sisterhood
Every morning, I wake up and lift my heart to God in prayer.
I praise Him for His glory and goodness.
I surrender my agenda and expectations to His greater kingdom purposes.
I yield my desires to do His will.
And, then I ask for Him to move a mountain.
I cry out to Him for that mountain to crumble.
I believe that God is bigger than any obstacle or stronghold.
Yet, my mountain remains — immovable and unyielding.
Do you have a mountain? I bet you do.
Like me, you may be discouraged by the darkness that looms large in your view.
You aren’t alone. If we sat down today in my kitchen and shared our stories, I bet we would see similarities.
Together, we would ask God to move two mountains.
With worshipful hearts, let’s keep crying out to the Lord for those mountains to crumble.
Let’s pray big!
Let’s ask God to help us have an expectant heart that is not overwhelmed by all the negativity in this world. Let’s pray big and believe God is bigger than the obstacles we are facing. Our Mighty God is going to do more than we can ask, think, or imagine as we pray with hope.
I also want to invite you to join a private “Pray Big” Facebook group for sisters to share our stories and surrender them to our mountain-moving God in prayer. Let’s lift up holy hands together and pray big in community.
To help you get started, I’m sharing a copy of My Pray Big Prayer Calendar with you. Join the Wildfire Faith Community and grab a copy in our Faith Fuel Library. Print out your copy and start each morning inviting God to strengthen your step and breathe fresh wind into your weary spirit.

Wow, Crystal, thanks for going deep here, and for the confirmation that God makes himself SO available to the seeking heart.
Thank you, Michele! Love that God opens His arms wide to us.
Michele: Don’t you love how God brings that confirmation so clearly? He is good.
Crystal: Thank you, thank you, thank you for your words this week. My heart so needed your wisdom.
It’s so easy to lose our focus. We need heart checks to make sure we haven’t let other desires get in God’s place.
Agreed, Barbara! Thankful God reveals our hearts and enables us through His grace to realign our hearts with His.
Praying with you too for an undivided heart. Thank you.
Thank you, Lauren.
Oh, to have an undivided heart, this is my prayer. Thank you for this thought-provoking post, Crystal, and for the encouragement that God always wants all of me.
Love that it’s true, Carlie. God wants all of us because He loves us.
