Turning Point
Has been. Washed up. Played out.
Maybe you know someone who fits this description. Someone close to you. Someone you love has lived a dark story line full of pain and loss and foolishness. A happy ending seems unlikely.
Maybe right now, your own life is more of a melodrama than a fairy tale. Conflict and opposition keep you from turning the page to a peaceful and satisfying resolution.
Friend, I want you to remember that every thrilling narrative involves an ordinary person who overcomes extraordinary odds.
When you least expect it, your turning point will break through, and the Master Storyteller will transform a dead-end tragedy into a supernatural legend.
God rewrote the text of my life
when I opened the book of my heart to His eyes.Psalms 18:24, MSG
Lyli,
Such hope when we allow the Master Storyteller to re-write and revise our stories….Thank you for the hope in your post 🙂
Thanks, Dolly. I don’t want to forget that His Sovereign hand is writing my story and that it ends well.
I love what you said here, but that scripture verse at the bottom really sealed the deal!
That verse inspired this entire post (and encouraged my spirit!) 🙂
He wrote and rewrote and I am so glad. Thanks for sharing the scripture and your thoughts.
My life has really turned out quite differently than I thought it would, but I am thankful that redemption is the theme.
Gorgeous photo & great post. Thanks for hosting & God bless.
Thanks, Laurie. I actually prayed this week for someone I love to have a Damascus Road experience — I didn’t know how else to pray. And, then I found this picture last night. It’s got Damascus written all over it. 🙂
I love this post. It spoke to me right where I needed it this evening. But I am confused about the verse. I loved it so much that I longed to read it in all versions. I looked up Psalm18:45 in my NASB Bible and it is not even remotely close in meaning or content. “Foreigners fade away and come trembling out of their fortresses.” ????????? I have checked, checked, and double checked to make sure I am not missing something. Is the reference incorrect?
Hey Shauna, the reference is to the 24th verse, not the 45th 🙂 The New King James Version says, “Therefore the Lord has recompensed me (or rewarded me) according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.” Hope that helps in case Lyli is away today. Blessings!
Bless you, Nanette. I will fix that when I get to a PC later this morning. I am on my phone right now in bed with my husband happily snoring beside me. 🙂
Lyli, you had me at … “Friend, I want you to remember that every thrilling narrative involves an ordinary person who overcomes extraordinary odds.” And then you shared the Scripture!!! I wanted to stand on my feet to applaud our God who is able to rewrite the text of our lives. But then I realized, I wanted to be down on my face before Him, asking Him to open the book of my heart to His eyes. Powerful thoughts you have shared today & I am grateful to have read them. Blessings!!!
Yes, Joanne! Last night our pastor spoke on Isaiah 6, and he mentioned that when we get a true glimpse of God’s glory, we are undone as our sin is so evident to us. Your words here “down on my face before him” are like a big Amen to that sermon. Thanks for sharing.
God rewrote the text of my life
when I opened the book of my heart to His eyes.
Psalms 18:45, MSG
Needed to see this today. I have to remember this. He’s rewriting the text of my life. Actively. No auto correct.
He’s not finished with us yet!
(and on a side note, it’s verse 24. Just corrected it in the post).
These are encouraging words for us to remember when we’re on the verge of giving up, or being discouraged because we are “ordinary.” I’m thankful the God we serve delights in using the ordinary! Otherwise, it IS hopeless for us all. Thanks for your encouragement today, Lyli!
He makes beauty out of the broken.
Thanks. I need to be reminded of that right now. God’s still writing the story.
I so needed to be reminded, too. I am thankful for His timely reminders. 🙂
I love this post! Finding myself in a place once again where God is changing everything. A life in Christ is just one big adventure because you have no idea where he’s going to take you. He is the redeemer and He can turn anything awful into something beautiful. There is nothing too big for Him. I’m sure of that now.
He really does know how to keep us on the edge of our seats sometimes. He writes the best adventure stories. 🙂
I love this verse from Psalm 18:45, Lyli. Beautiful. This was good to read, I have been wrestling with some areas that fall right in this category and I need to remember that HE alone writes the text of my life when the book of my heart is opened to him and in that I an rest, trust, and relish the beauty of the story. I am coasting on some sweet blessings just holding on to your words today.
Bless you!
Dawn
Let’s watch and wait for the beauty together, my friend. Hugs and prayers.
(and it’s verse 24 — the original post sent out by e-mail had the address wrong, and I’ve since corrected. it.)
I am really enjoying these verses that you’ve been sharing from The Message. I have a few *errant* chapters in the story of my life. But I am so very grateful that The Author edited and rewrote them – and somehow pulled out a happy ending.
Can’t wait to arrive at the last chapter in Heaven. Rumor has it that the *happily ever after* never ends!! 🙂
GOD BLESS!
Every word went straight to this mother’s heart – especially “the Master Storyteller will transform a dead-end tragedy into a supernatural legend.”
needed to read that verse tonight. Thanks so much Lyli. That Message translation really resonated with me. Does that mean God texts? lol
I love that–God rewrote the text of my life. I was a little girl when I started the chapter of salvation. So thankful. Thank you, too, for taking time to prepare this space. ~Pamela
