The Hard Task

To pray big, you need a 4th quarter mentality.
You need to keep the goal in mind and recognize that the end is near. Β Yes, I am depleted of strength and all banged up, but I must “suck it up.”
Keep pushing forward. Β Never give up.
The problem is that some days, I don’t even want to put on the uniform. Β I don’t want to walk out on to the field and execute what’s written in the playbook. Β I’d rather be on the couch painting my nails.
I don’t like hard things.
Not to mention, it’s incredibly hard to get enthusiastic when you keep getting pushed back every time you step on to the gridiron.
I guess you’veΒ got to trudge on through the gore to truly appreciate the glory.
Here’s the thing — I’ve got a winning quarterback. Β His mighty arm never gets tired. Β He runs on to the field waving a victory banner over my life every time.
Even if my scoreboard reads zero at this moment, the clock is not going to run out before my comeback.
I’m on the conquering team. Β There is no doubt about it.
Nothing is too hard for my God. Β He’ll flatten the opposition every time.
Are you tired of the fight today? Β Put on your helmet and pray a simple prayer:
Lord, give me help for the hard task.
~
Let’s Talk: Β Have you pressed through the gore to experience the glory? Β How did God help you keep pressing forward even though it was hard?

This year, my desire is to lift up holy hands and “Pray Big.” Want to join me? I’ve created a private “Pray Big” Facebook group for like-minded sisters to share their stories and surrender each one to our mountain-moving God in prayer. Let’s cry out to God together.
Great encouragement, Lyli. Keep the end goal in mind. I just listened to a sermon podcast this morning on heaven. That’s a goal always worth pushing forward to! Thanks.
Lyli, I am not much of a football fan. Ok, truth be known, I am not at all a football fan & it is embarrassing to admit. My family does a fantasy league & I have been drafted (no pun intended) because they needed an even #. Last season I drafted only those with Italian sounding names so yes, that basically meant any first name which ended in a vowel could be drafted. This year I drafted only players whose first names begin with “J” in honor of my granddaughter, Jocelyn π As you can see, my family dies laughing when I win. Anyway, I loved this analogy. In Christ, we are only called to make yardage, inch by inch, in our fight until we cross the finish line. But just think of the dance we will one day do in the end zone. My friend, can I just say, I have so come to love you! You make me think!
You crack me up, Joanne! There’s something to be said about the randomness of non-football watcher’s methods of winning Super Bowl pool plays and fantasy football league games ;).
Praying with you (as this is my prayer too). π
Your posts are always so inspiring. Thank you Lyli. Hugs! π
His word, Lyli, that’s what keeps me in dark times. And not just the truth that we’re on the winning team (Amen?) but that God is on my team. His promises are intimate and true. encouraging post, friend – I’m lovin’ this series!
