Sun Washed

Have you ever sat on a sandy beach and waited for the sun to set?
Here’s the thing: you can’t rush the sun. You have to sit quietly and watch. If you aren’t patient and get distracted, you will miss the beauty.
The sun will set in a vibrant display. But if your gaze is not fully directed toward the light, you won’t get to bask in its glory.
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how God is always showing off, but sometimes, I fail to see Him because I’m not patient enough to plant myself down and wait.
I want God to be on my timetable, but I need to be on His.
Slow me down, Lord.
I want to be sun washed as I sit at Your feet and wait in expectation.

This year, my desire is to lift up holy hands and “Pray Big.” Want to join me? I’ve created a private “Pray Big” Facebook group for like-minded sisters to share their stories and surrender each one to our mountain-moving God in prayer. Let’s cry out to God together.
yes! The beauty we find when walk and not run. When we sit still the heart can listen.
How true! This resonated with me today. Sometimes, we can get ahead of God and totally miss the point of what He is doing in our lives. I have been thinking so much lately about the Ark of the Covenant and how God told Joshua to instruct the Israelites to walk 2,000 cubits behind it. There is SO much good and truth you can dig out of that study! They weren’t to come any closer to the Ark or to lag any farther behind it. It had to be that exact distance, and there were so many reasons for this, one being they needed to always maintain clear visibility of what the Ark was doing. God help us to stay where we need to be, so we do not miss what He is doing. 🙂 It was so edifying for me to come here today. Thank you, Lyli!
Ain’t that the truth. What wonders, miracles, and take-your-breath-away vistas have passed us by because we were absorbed in stuff that didn’t matter … or too much in a hurry to the next big thing.
Thanks for this perspective, Lyli. And yes, the sunset at the beach always does it for me.
Sabbath restful joys …
Lyli,
This is so true and I love how you used the example of the sun rising…and learning to keep seeking God’s face in the process of waiting which is one of the hardest things to do…((hugs))
