Soar

I fought back tears as I hung up the phone.
I’d apologized, even though I hadn’t said anything wrong. I tried to act redemptively, but her vinegary response had deflated my spirit.
Rather than wallow in negative thinking for the rest of the day, I decided to press play on worship and tune into Truth.
I will say no to sour living. I choose to soar.
I recognize that the enemy of my soul seeks to defeat me by hurling fiery darts to wound me deeply until I’m paralyzed by anger and bitterness.
I must choose to remember His promises that affirm my heart, rather than rehearse lies that keep me bound in a stronghold of unforgiveness.
10 Scriptural Affirmations that Strengthen Your Soul & Help You Soar:
- I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
- I am loved with an everlasting love by One who draws me with His lovingkindness (Jeremiah 31:3).
- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13).
- As I hope hope in the Lord, my strength is renewed. I will soar on wings like eagles. I will run and not grow weary. I will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:31).
- I do not have a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (II Timothy 1:7).
- The Spirit of God that raised Christ from the dead lives in me (Romans 8:11).
- I dwell in the shelter of the Most High and rest in the shadow of the Almighty, who is my refuge and fortress (Psalm 91:1-2).
- I have everything I need for a godly life through my knowledge of God who called me by His own glory and goodness (II Peter 1:3).
- I will be blessed for persevering under trial and receive the crown of life for having withstood the test (James 1:12).
- I am victorious through Christ. I can always give myself fully to the work of the Lord because I know that my labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Rather than allow the enemy to steal your peace and squelch your joy, choose to strengthen your wings and soar above the clamor.
Something to think about…
Soar is just the right word because it emphasizes the updraft, the power of Wind that keeps us in the air!
Blessings, Lyli!
Yes. Let us rise above in the power of the Spirit.
Love that word and have seldom thought about it, but now that you’ve shared this and the verses it will certainly be on my mind. Thank you for the words and the party.
Thanks, Debbie. The title of this post was actually inspired by a Meredith Andrews song of the same title.
You go, Lyli! I love your list! I’m going to copy it and put it on my phone! Is that okay? 🙂 I need to read it like maybe 5 times a day! (You could build around this post, add just a bit more content, and have a great freebie for blog subscribers. If you don’t already have one. Just sayin’ because that list is downloadable for sure! )
Thanks, Betsy. I need to do that soon. It’s a blogging goal.
“No to sour living” and “her vinegary response” – absolutely LOVE those phrases! Both created visuals instantly. And you know what else, Lyli? The list created a visual, too. It painted a picture of peace and confidence in the Lord, removing the paintbrush from self-protection’s and blame’s control. It’s a beautiful list.
Thank you, friend. It’s a daily battle. Every day, my response must be to forgive… Some days that is easier than others!
Yes to soaring. Absolutely!
;-}
These are awesome, Lyli! I’m going to write them down and keep them in a safe place. These are great reminders when we are feeling deflated. ?
Yay! So glad you were encouraged!
What a thoughtful comment– thank you for the encouraging words. You are right- I am just trying to feel my way into a writing process that will work for me (it’s all so individual!). So many people have shared such great advice and ideas in their comments to this post– ultimately I’ll have to figure out what clicks for me. Right now, structure feels like the way to go. Happy writing to you too! Come visit us on popcorntheblog again!
I really needed this, Lyli. Thank you!
Hugs
Amen, Lyli! You are always so encouraging! I need to press play on worship more often in circumstances like these! Have a blessed week, my friend!
I am so thankful that now I can carry my worship music with me everywhere in my fancy dancy phone.
Sour to sore. That’s the path to travel! Loved reading through these 10 affirmations. Thanks, Lyli.
Oh yes, SOAR – and rise above it all – I love your list of 10 verses, many of my favorite ones are listed. I am sorry about the lady and her sour “vinegary” disposition and attitude – I know just how you feel when you are on the receiving end of something like that – But remember you are loved with an intense love by your Father in Heaven and a whole bunch of people here on the earth too. Blessings – thanks for your words today and for hosting
Thank you, Debbie. Sadly this woman is a Christ follower. Through her life, I see how important it is to live a grace-filled life so that we don’t grow callous & hard.
We have to remind ourselves of those truths regularly, don’t we? This world (and sometimes the people in it) can definitely pull us down if we don’t stay built up in Him! Thanks for some great reminders and for hosting! Blessings!
Yes, staying grounded after a crazy week like this helps us remember that God is still on the throne.
