Pray Big Playlist

A few weeks ago, my bloggy friend Kristin decided to create a playlist for her “one word” for 2015. She asked her Facebook friends for some suggestions, and I immediately jumped in because I love music, and her word is “joy.”
Afterward, I took a mental trip back to 2012 when I declared my theme for the year was “Ain’t Nobody Gonna Steal My Joy” and thanked God for getting me through the dark season that followed. I’ve learned the hard way that choosing a theme for the year can kind of “kick your butt” when you go through a valley of testing. It’s not easy to do “Cartwheels of Joy” when you are in a hospital bed. Last year, when I told my husband that my theme for 2014 was “Hold Fast,” he actually cringed, but we’ve come to see in full color that God is the Anchor through the storm. I have no regrets. When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay.
Over the last month, I keep picking up on prayers in song lyrics whenever I turn on the car radio or step into church. I’ve been scribbling down song titles and realized almost immediately that God was giving me my own “Pray Big Playlist” for 2015. So, with a tip of the hat to Kristin, I wanted to “share the love” today for all of you who may need a little musical inspiration as you lift up holy hands to our mountain-moving God this year.
Pray Big Tunes
“I Surrender” by Hillsong Live
I surrender.
I surrender.
I want to know You more.
I want to know You more.
Like a rushing wind,
Jesus breathe within.
Lord, have Your way.
Lord, have Your way in me.
“God, I Look to You” by Bethel Music
God, I look to You.
I won’t be overwhelmed.
Give me vision to see things like You do.
God, I look to You.
You’re where my help comes from.
Give me wisdom. You know just what to do.
“The Greatness of our God” by Hillsong Live
Give me eyes to see
More of who You are.
May what I behold,
Still my anxious heart.
Take what I have known
And break it all apart,
For You my God, are greater still.
Fall down on me.
Drop me to my knees.
Pour over me
Deeper than the sea.
Rain on me
With love until I drown.
I need You to fall down.
“Holy Spirit” by Jesus Culture
Holy Spirit You are welcome here.
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere.
Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for,
To be overcome by Your presence, Lord.
Let us become more aware of Your presence.
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness.
Let Your Word move in power.
Let what’s dead come to life.
We are here for You.
“Slow Me Down” by Robbie Seay Band
Slow me down, O Lord.
Slow me down.
Help my heart to hear Your sound.
Speak into my life.
Lord, speak now.
Slow me down, O Lord.
Slow me down.
“Cast My Cares” by Tim Timmons
I’ll pray with confidence.
In the middle of the fight,
You’re greater still.
In the middle of a fire,
Your love is holding me.
You are, You are my song.
You’re my hope, when hope is gone.
I will cast my cares on You ’cause You’re good.
I will cast my cares on You ’cause You love me.
“I Lift Up My Hands” by Chris Tomlin
I lift my hands to believe again.
You are my refuge; You are my strength.
As I pour out my heart, these things I remember:
You are faithful, God, forever.
All my dreams, all my plans.
Lord I leave it in Your hands.
I lift my life, lift my life up.
Have Your way in me.
Have Your way in me.
Q4U: What song is your heart singing right now? What’s on your playlist?

This year, my desire is to lift up holy hands and “Pray Big.” Want to join me? I’ve created a private “Pray Big” Facebook group for like-minded sisters to share their stories and surrender each one to our mountain-moving God in prayer. Let’s cry out to God together.
Stopping by from the #RaRaLinkup. Thank you for your encouraging words. I need to keep my focus on working towards joy in my life. I have been really blessed by the number of people who are choosing this as their word for 2015.
I love your song list! We sing many of these at church.
Such a great idea. I’ve been singing “Sing to the King”, “Your Name” and “Oceans” lately. Stopping by from #TellHisStory.
Love all of those, Katie. Thanks for stopping by. So lovely to connect with you through Jennifer’s awesome linkup! π
I love this word for a year.. pray big. I cannot wait to see what God does as you pray big for this year. And I love the songs that you placed on there also!
You know I love this. π So glad you shared!
I love your playlist! My word is “watch.” I have no idea what songs would fit that, but I’ll ask the Lord to start revealing some!
Hi, Lyli! What a great idea to do a playlist with your one word for the year! My word is FOCUS. Not sure what songs I can find, but I think I’ll give it a try. Music is a great way to keep Scripture close and focus on a message of God’s truth. Thanks for the idea! Connecting through Missional Women today. Blessings to you!
I kind of did this. When I decided I didn’t really want a word but want to just focus on knowing Jesus more, I kept hearing Hillsong Live, To Be Like You
“Jesus, Jesus, all I want is to be like You.”
It is now on my phone π
What a wonderful idea! I want to do this also!
I love this idea, Lyli! Music affects me so much. The song my heart has been singing lately is “How Great is Our God.” He’s been amazing me lately with everything he’s done in my life and I’m in awe that he would use me to point others to him. It’s humbling, really. Thanks so much for joining us at #RaRaLinkup.
