Peace and Goodwill

In hope of diffusing explosive personalities, I put up the Christmas tree early last week and prayed for peace on earth.
Please let us sit around the Thanksgiving table with love and laughter, rather than rancor.
I turned up the Christmas carols and asked God to dispel darkness and spread cheer, and I am overjoyed to report that we had a holly jolly day.
God is still in the business of peace on earth and goodwill to men.
I know this in my heart of hearts, but sometimes the hate in this broken world is so strong that despair grips my heart.
Tonight as my fingers are hitting the keyboard, the television blares painfully loud. I am crestfallen as I see images of senseless violence that shattered innocent lives. Rather than a red Santa suit on the screen, I see the crimson stain of sin.
I must decide to turn off the clamor and tune into the Light. Hope is ever alive in my heart because the Light of the World has come. He has conquered sin and death and darkness.
God is not dead, nor does He sleep. The wrong shall fail, the right prevail with peace on earth, goodwill to man.
Peace and goodwill will inevitably reign forever.
Tonight if you are heavy-hearted, repeat the words wild and sweet:
God is not dead, nor does He sleep. The wrong shall fail, the right prevail with peace on earth, goodwill to man.
Something to think about…
First off – yay! Your blog is back. Secondly, this has been my favorite carol for 3 years running. Did you know it is a poem written during the American civil war? Nothing civil about it. But it serves as a reminder that to know Jesus is to know everything WILL be made right again. Love you! I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving. ?
Amen, friend. Thank God His light does not dim within. 🙂
Bless you,
Dawn
Lyli, like you, I also am finding it difficult to watch the news & had to turn it off yesterday. Thank you for these words right here for I will be remembering them all day > “The wrong shall fail, the right prevail with peace on earth, goodwill to man.” xo
May we all keep our lights turned on bright and often. So much darkness in our world. But you’re exactly right, Lyli: “God is still in the business of peace on earth and goodwill to men.” May it be so! Blessings to you, friend.
A hearty Amen, Lyli!
Thank you for hosting another week. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Would love for you to join us at my new blog party linkup. Sitting Among Friends at http://youresewtrendy.blogspot.com
How timely this old carol is today. Beautiful: “God is not dead, nor does He sleep. The wrong shall fail, the right prevail with peace on earth, goodwill to man.”
Thanks for sharing this today. So encouraging with everything going on.
Now more than ever we need to remember that God is near and in control. His peace is the only thing that will help us get through these dark days. So glad you felt His peace on Thanksgiving, what a blessing that is.
The Christmas carol is so timely and meaningful today. All verses of the carol, along with the history of it, are posted on the gospel coalition blog.

I’m glad you had a good Thanksgiving! We did too. Blessings.
Lyli, we certainly need to remind ourselves and others of these truths. If I didn’t know that He is truly alive, the world would be a fearful place as we spin closer and closer to end (actually a new beginning for those of us who know Him!). Thanks for hosting. December blessings!
Beautiful, Lyli. <3 One of my favorite Christmas songs.
