On Love Street

We finally did it. We found the perfect spot on the wall for the clock. We listed the oval time piece on our wedding registry, but it has been collecting dust in the back of the closet for almost five years.
Progress, I told my husband. We are making progress.
Daily, we are making choices that will shape our home. The clock now hangs at eye level to the right of our front door — a simple reminder that each moment is a gift. Time is slipping by as I exit each morning.
I want to choose wisely. I want my home to be pleasing to Him.
If God were my decorator, what color palette would He choose? How would He arrange the bulky furniture to create an inviting space in my living room?
As I look into the mirror of His Word, I am taking notes. Our foundation must be faith. Our walls are salvation. The door should be praise. Wisdom draws up the blueprints.
By wisdom a house is built,
and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.Proverbs 24:3-4, MSG

Something to think about…
Thanks so much for hosting. I love linking up with you each week! 🙂
And, I love linking up over at your blog on Wednesdays!!! 🙂
Lyli – I love being here each week! You truly always give me something to think about. We have a clock hanging in our dining room. For me, it was a piece I so wanted to hang right there. It was not expensive (from Target) but warms my heart when I notice it or more so, hear it as it softly & gently ticks. And now I know why – “a simple reminder that each moment is a gift”. I will now always remember you too 🙂 Thank you for sharing this truth today! Blessings!
Joanne, my husband picked that clock out for the registry. I honestly didn’t see a need for it. I always look at my cell phone whenever I need to know what time it is. But, now that it is on the wall in such a significant place, it really speaks to me about how I need to remember that time is a gift, not to be taken for granted.
Hey Lyli … don’t you LOVE finding long forgotten treasures tucked away somewhere? Or moving a favorite something from one room to another? I love to ‘shop the closet’ … and doing this makes me appreciate what God has allowed us to possess so much more!
I LOVE that our Creative Creator cares about every aspect of our lives.
Thanks for this offering today, my friend …
Linda,I had a whole basket full of little wall plaques and goodies that i had completely forgotten about. I found them in a basket in the back of my closet… little treasures I’d forgotten about after 5 years of renting.
He is reminding me that I am His dwelling place. He has the same care for adorning my soul as I do for decorating the walls in our new home.
The corner of Love and Surrender, that’s where I want to be! Love how you are looking to the Lord in all things, wanting to please Him in all your ways.
Yay, so glad you want to be my neighbor! 🙂
Building His house, the one we dwell in, just around the corner from love and surrender. Beautiful! Oh yes! I love that! ~ Jen
One brick at a time… 🙂
I want His Divine Design:) I’m glad you found a place for your gift!!
This is a code for your button – if you want to use it. I used photobucket to make one!
I need tangible reminders of Him in my home, too. And I want my home to be inviting for all who enter, which means I need Jesus.
I have Scripture up on most of my walls in the house now… but I am praying it will drop down into my heart and blossom there.
What a great visual, Lyli…and your line about praise being a door really hit me bc I am learning praise is a doorway into God’s presence…blessings to you 🙂
I got that inspiration from a verse I read a couple of weeks ago in my Daily Light devotional — Isa. 60:18: “…you shall call your walls Salvation, And your gates Praise.”
Really something to thinks about Lyli… I want my home to praise God too. Thanks a lot for sharing and hosting too. Do have a super blessed day!
Love
So glad you are here, Ugochi! Blessings right back at ya. 🙂
So happy you are getting settled in your new home! So comforting to be where you want to be. Blessings!
Thanks, Nannette! We’ve been living there as renters for a few years, but now we are trying to put our stamp on it as home owners. 🙂
I have a new painting arriving soon and I’m really hoping I hang it quickly. Many times I can make a purchase and it sits and collects dust. But this one… it is so beautiful. It says AWAKE my soul on it and the money went toward a cause. 🙂
Loved this! You are such a delight.
I saw the picture you posted of it — Sweet! 🙂
“Right on the corner of love and surrender.” That is BRILLIANT.
ah, thanks Jody! He is meeting me there on that corner.
I love that proverb. I had it hanging on my dining room wall before I knew the Lord. He was already speaking to me. I bet your home is awesome and welcoming. ❤️
Isn’t it amazing how we look back and see how He was pursuing us all along? 🙂
The corner of Love and Surrender. I think we might live in the same neighborhood? 😉
Love this post! Thank you for linking up with Recommendation Saturday! Heart Hugs, Shelly <3
I am quite sure that we do! )
Lovely thoughts on how God builds our homes when we let him! Thanks for linking up to Testimony Tuesday, Lyli. I’m going to add your linkup to my list too. Thanks for hosting.
I’ve been meaning to link up for a while now, Holly. I finally got my ducks in a row today.. 🙂
Beautiful way to think about making our homes God’s home. These words especially spoke to me: “Our foundation must be faith. Our walls are salvation. The door should be praise. Wisdom draws up the blueprints”. I will be praying that God opens my eyes to discovering how my home can more clearly honor Him. Thank you and blessings, Mary!
Thanks, Mary. I am praying, too.
