The Letter (Tuesdays Unwrapped)
We had just finished eating dinner when my husband produced the letter. He had picked it up at the post office at 1:30 that day, but he had waited to tell me.
He slid the open envelope across the kitchen counter that stood between us.
I started at it, but did not open it because my man’s face said all I needed to know.
Rejected.
I measured my response — I could unravel and wallow in the dark, scornful sea of despair, or I could lift up this letter and offer it to God.
Lord, here is the letter. We lay it at your feet along with our hearts and ask you to do as You please. We are yours. We receive what You have for us with thankfulness. We choose to hope where there is no hope because You are hope.

The next morning, as I rubbed the sleep from my eyes, I opened up my Daily Light Devotional app on my iPhone to sit with my Savior for a spell. The reading for the day offered hope.
I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause. – Job 5:8
Is anything too hard for the Lord?―Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass.―Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.―Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.
And then came the verse that God wanted to write on my heart….
Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it: and Hezekiah went up unto the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed unto the Lord.
How cool is that? May I never forget that God is the Postmaster of all my correspondence.
His stamps all with the seal
Accepted. Redeemed. Restored.

Lyli,
How awesome for God to speak just the right words to you…praying God continues to encourage you and your husband as you wait in hope for Him…sending you a hug 🙂
He never ceases to amaze me. That devotional was written decades ago, but somehow He ordered it so that the reading on December 3rd was written just for me in 2013. Amazing!
I love how He give us the exact words we need to hear. It’s mind boggling but AMAZING.
Much love to you,
Beth
I’ve been holding on to this little treasure in my heart for a couple of weeks now, but today I felt free to shout it out — GOD SPEAKS. And here is some evidence. 🙂
Dear Lyli
This brings tears to my eyes!! Our Pappa is truly faithful and we really have nothing to be concerned about. I often wondered why Paul tells us to always lay our worries and requests before Jesus with thanksgiving until I realized it is because of our certainty and trust that God always hears and listen to us.
Blessings XX
Mia
He truly redeems all, Mia. Sometimes, I forget that He is able to make rivers out of a desert, but then He gently reminds me once again… 🙂
Yes, Lyli, Yes. ‘The Postmaster of all my correspondence.’ That just grabs my heart. It truly does … for your comfort and peace I pray.
Thanks, Linda. I had to remember that He knew that letter would be coming… He wasn’t caught off guard like we were…. He sees the bigger picture while I am just looking at one page of the story…
And He always sends good mail. So grateful for His deliveries!
Indeed, Lisa. He writes the best Love Letters. Why do I doubt?
Wow! I love how God directs us directly to his word (the greatest love letter ever written to us)! Thank you for sharing an encouraging story. Praying for wisdom and continued direction as well as peace in your situation.
Thanks for those prayers, Dionne. This is a situation that I am on my knees about daily.
I love how God always has the EXACT right Word we need to hear at the exact right time. His timing is always perfect.
Sending love, friend.
He is so kind, Michelle. Seriously, He didn’t need to give me this verse, but He did. it’s a sweet treasure that I am holding on to…. He cares so much.
yep. accepted. redeemed. restored.
don’t you love the way God moves in and shows us His great love for us??
And He always seems to speak our love language.
He does like to show off… and on this morning, He did in spectacular fashion. Seriously, He gave me a verse about a letter. CRAZY LOVE
As I read this, I could not help but think that a rejection might actually make room for the acceptance into the place God has purposed. May we always remember that He knows the beginning from the end & all that is also in the middle. I love how He speaks to us exactly what we need at the moment. Keep holding onto Him as He holds onto you both! Blessings, Lyli!
Yes, Joanne. I am not sure where this journey is taking us, but He goes before us. This gives me great comfort and courage.
Lyli, this post is absolutely beautiful, as is the photograph. God is so good to share His Word with our hearts just when we need it.
Katie, thanks for stopping my little spot on the web. The picture is actually a free stock photo from pixabay…. and God is authoring the story, so I am just along for the ride on this one… 🙂
I just love how God does it! He’s so amazing. Praying for peace for you and Bruce. ❤️
Thanks for praying, Michelle. We aren’t sure where this road is taking us, but we know it’s a road He wants us on…. 🙂
Lyli, I am thankful for your courage in sharing what sounds like a beginning to a journey. thank you. Beautiful analogy. It works on so many levels for me as I am a believer who is crazy about letter writing and all things paper (you may enjoy my hang out over at http://www.ritewhileucan.com). May you feel His real peace this Christmas.
Barb, thanks for stopping by my little place on the web. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas! 🙂
