In His Grip

Some days, I feel like I can’t hold fast. Dark waters surround me, and I grow fearful. My grip is not strong enough, and the fingers of my soul start slipping.
Just when I think I am going to drift off into the mire, I feel the tug. He’s pulling me back. You see, my God is holding me firmly in His mighty grasp. He strengthens me when I am too weak to go on. He seizes me and pulls me out of the mire. He settles me on a firm foundation.
He will never let me go. There is not a chance that I am going to slip away from His protective care.
Whatever you are facing today, God will keep you.
In His grip is the safest place to be.
Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Where can I flee from Your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, You are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
Your right hand will hold me fast.
Psalms 139:7-10, NIV
Q4U: How has God held you fast and strengthened you during a dark season?
I am sharing “In His Grip” and joining like-minded sisters at Three-Word Wednesday, Words of Life Wednesdays, Tell His Story, A Little R and R, Testimony Tuesday, Soli Deo Gloria, Rich-Faith Rising, Sharing His Beauty, Playdates with God, and Hear it on Sunday: Use it on Monday.
Let’s hold fast together in 2014.
Great word for the day, Lyli! Much needed. Feeling strained and worn from the daily battle and His Word is ultimately the ONLY medicine that makes the difference. Thanks for being faithful!
Bless you!
Dawn
His Word gives us a firm place to stand.
I love, love the truth that he holds on to us even when we’re too weak to hold on to him. The image you posted today is such a strong one, Lyli. Thanks for this reminder!
I am glad you liked the picture, Lisa. I looked and looked for something that captured the thought, and this simple image resonated with me the most.
You’re right, Lyli. We can’t hold fast. Only He can do it for us! And I love the hefty strength of your picture. For some reason, we so need reminders of His might …
I know, right? We do have a very short term memory.
Such a sweet reassurance, Lyli. I love the image you’ve paired with these thoughts–makes me feel safe. Love to you, lady.
Safe in his arms. 🙂
Thank you for writing this. I am going through one of those times and HE is sustaining me. Thanks again. <3
He is faithful (and I am thankful.)
There have been times I have doubted, but I have now learned to recognize the feeling of the tug. And I am forever grateful!
He’s always there. What a gift! 🙂
These words of your’s were straight from God’s mouth to my doubtful heart. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
It’s hard for me to see Him sometimes in the darkness, but He’s always there. Hugs and prayers, Amy
There are those days when it just seems so hard – and I am so glad He takes my hand and pulls me through. Praying for you sweet friend – comfort and refreshing this week!
Thanks for those prayers, MaryLeigh! xoxo
This made me think of a verse I’m sharing on Wednesday… ““Every person the Father gives me eventually comes running to me. And once that person is with me, I hold on and don’t let go.” John 6:36 (MSG)
I just loved the reminder of how He holds on and never let’s go.
Beautiful encouragement, Lyli.
{Hugs}
Great Scripture, Beth. Looking forward to your post. 🙂
I really like the image you chose to accompany your words Lily. Together they really send a strong message. I’m so grateful that God keeps a firm hold onto me. Many blessings to you.
It does help me walk with greater confidence today. He keeps me. What a blessing! 🙂
Love this post, friend. He has held me fast in a dark season through His word. Without the truths found there, I’m not sure where I’d be. Thanks for encouraging us all to remain in the grip of His grace and mercy. I appreciate you linking up to Testimony Tuesday too!
Yes, Holly! His words are life to me. What a blessing to have His promises to stand on!
Enjoyed this — very helpful; thank you! It’s so nice to “meet” you 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, Susan. Did you see my What’s on Your Nightstand post? It’s back another page.
First, I love the image of being “in His grip”. It is reassuring to know that God is always holding tight. God has especially been holding fast during this season of loss for me. My mom passed away in January and God’s comfort has been like a warm blanket on a cold day. Blessings!
Mary, hugs and prayers to you. May God wrap Himself around you and comfort you.
Hi Lyli. I’m visiting from SDG. I’ve been away from blogland for a while but it’s so good to be back:) Love these thoughts, so precious to the heart of those walking this veil of tears…thanks for sharing!!
Abby, so excited to hear that you are back to regularly blogging! 🙂
Thank you for sharing these words of hope and life. Nothing can separate us from His love. Nothing.
Yes, I love that promise in Romans 8.
How encouraging and true…He grips us tighter than we can imagine…we are never alone…praying for you Lyli and your friend Barbry.
Thanks for those prayers, Dolly! Hugs
Hi Lyli!
When I saw the title of this post on the link-ups over at Simply Beth’s today, I instantly knew I wanted to read it. So, when I clicked on it and came to your blog I was happily surprised to discover it was you! 🙂 My blog is named for this phrase because at my darkest time in my life, God never let me go. He was right there with me, pulling me out of the pit with his strong grasp. There is such beauty in His grip, isn’t there? Thank you for sharing this post and bring to the forefront of my mind just how wonderful our God is!
Blessings, Joan
P.S. I talk about this more in “A Life Saved” on one of the top tabs on my blog. 🙂
Yay! I didn’t make that connection. Thanks for pointing it out to me, Joan. 🙂
When I am weak, He is strong in me. Love that He holds us tight…
I am so thankful for His grip. 🙂
