Home (Thought-Provoking Thursday)

We purchased a home a few weeks ago.Β Β We’d lived in the house for a few years as renters, but now it’s ours.
This year, we put a Christmas wreath on the door, and I found a blow up Nativity for our lawn.Β Now that this is our house, I am “nesting.”Β I purchased a few fancy frames to decorate each room.
So, this weekend, my husband spent a couple of hours drilling holes and centering pictures on the walls to make things look more homey for me.
I am slowly putting our imprint on all the walls of this home.

This morning, God reminded me that Christ came to make me His home.Β Once I invited Him in, my Savior invaded every space and claimed it as His own.
Christ is a nester.Β Β He wants to adorn my life with good things, holy ornaments.
Emmanuel is slowly putting His imprint on me.

Lyli, this is what I absolutely loved:
“Christ is a nester…Emmanuel is slowly putting His imprint on me.”
What a wonderful thought! The Lord of the universe, making His home in me. May He find the welcome mat out, and a warm heart waiting for Him inside. May He make Himself at home. And, I hope He does some housekeeping in those dusty and dirty corners that I sometimes try to hide!!
GOD BLESS!
Sharon, that is exactly what I was thinking! God impressed on me this week that He is rather interested in making my heart “homey.” π
First, so grateful that you now have a place to call a home of your own! Second, “Christ is a nester.” I LOVE THAT! Just beautiful! I sat & thought on this one as I just finished touring some photos of beautifully decorated homes. Lyli, I am so glad that Christ comes into our “temples” and regardless of how ugly or messy our lives may have been, He still comes in. He makes our hearts His home & transforms them into something beautiful. And purposeful. A most humbling thought this morning. And I love this song by Paul Baloche! Great post! Blessings!!!
He does love a fixer upper, right? I love that about our God. π
Congratulations on purchasing your home! So exciting!! I loved this…”He wants to adorn my life with good things, holy ornaments.” Just thinking about how He wants only good things for us warms my heart.
Joining in today!! I’m looking forward to visiting a few others.
Much love to you,
Beth
Thanks, Beth. We’ve been renting the home for a few years, but now I can finally put a lot of nails in the wall and not worry about having to plug them when I leave.
I think the permanence of home ownership just reminded me that God comes in to stay when He enters in. He isn’t just passing though… π
Happy new home!
Thanks, friend. I see on instagram that you are “nesting” a bit, too. Enjoy your new place! π
Merry Christmas, Lyli! I plan to link up once I get back to blogging after Christmas! Hope you have a wonderful holiday with your fam!
Melissa, I have missed you on Wednesdays, but I think it’s awesome that you are taking this time away to truly be present with your boys. Hugs
Hi Lyli – Thanks for the link-up! Congratulations on your new house! So, so happy for you guys! What a wonderful Christmas present this year! π Blessings, Jen
Yes, Jen. We actually bought it in September, but we’ve been so crazy busy that I am finally hanging up some stuff on the walls in December…. π
Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
Lyli,
Congrats on your home; how exciting π And I love your Christ nesting analogy…yes He has bought us with His very life…Merry Christmas to you π
Thanks, Dolly. I actually heard the hymn “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” at a Christmas concert this past week. I was looking for a nice version of it on You Tube to share on my facebook page and found this beautiful Paul Baloche song. The 1st half of it really inspired this post. It is amazing that God Himself chooses to make His home in me.
Congratulations on your new and very own home, Lyli. It really changes the way one looks at a house when it becomes our home, doesn’t it?
I love this post…”Christ is a nester. He wants to adorn my life with good things, holy ornaments.” Yes He does! I shall be pondering this a while!
Caring through Christ, ~ linda
Thanks, Linda! We have been living in the house for 5 years now, but I was trying not to get too attached to it in case I didn’t get to keep it… π
Echoing all the thoughts already here. It does take time to leave your imprint, doesn’t it? We’ve been in our home for almost 17 years now and we are ready for the second round of these things. Something so sweet about putting your heart into your home. Excited about your new linkup, Lyli! Much love to you.
My husband and I were talking about this earlier this week — the work is never done. You are always tinkering here and there around the house. The minute I let my guard down, something breaks…. It’s sort of comforting when I think of this in terms of my soul and spirit — I am a work in progress…. and the work won’t be done until I reach glory.
I listened to the song yesterday–so beautiful.
“Christ is a nester.” I love that imagery of him setting up house in us. I’m glad it’s true! Congrats on owning your home. Praying you and your family have a blessed Christmas in it.
Thanks, Lisa. We had a wonderful Christmas. Happy New Year to you!
Congratulations on the purchase of your home. Your post makes me think of the verse when the Lord says, “You are Mine.” He has bought us for a price and you are so right….He has made His home in us. Blessings to you this Christmas! Love, Rachael @ Inking the Heart
It’s a blessing to be His, isn’t it? How glorious! π
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
