He Will Carry You Through
On Thursday evening, I asked my husband to drive me to the ER. Acid reflux had been plaguing me for a couple of weeks. Three days full of tests have ensued. This morning, as I snuggled up with the hospital blankets in my adjustable bed, I felt uncertain about the week ahead with no clear diagnosis. Gently, the Lord spoke to me. Well, actually, the LPN served as His mouthpiece as she changed the linens for the bed next door. Apparently, this sweet servant is a sister, and her lilting voice could not help but sing out His praises as she turned the sheets. She sang an old Gospel hymn with a refrain that washed over my weary spirit: “He will carry you though…” Oh, how I needed to hear that tune!
What load are you carrying today?
… health issue?
… broken relationship?
… financial instability?
Sister, He will carry you through. He sees you right where you are, and He is walking with you and ready to carry your burden. If you listen closely, you will hear His voice singing softly over you.
Yesterday, as I was digging “Into the Word,” I found a couple of verses that encouraged my heart and gave my stay here in the hospital some focus:
But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me,
so that the message
might be preached fully through me,
and that all the Gentiles might hear.
Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work
and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom.
To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
I Timothy 4:17-18, NKJV
Paul, the author of this letter, knew about pain and suffering: Imprisoned, stoned, and falsely accused, He let nothing deter Him from His calling — to share the Gospel wherever He went. So today, I am sharing Jesus from my bed in 405b. I am praying for the patients on this floor, joyfully interacting with the nursing staff, and asking God to open up doors for me to be a light right here where He has placed me. I am holding on to the promise that He will carry me through a tricky gall bladder surgery on Monday and resting in the fact that my God will deliver me from all harm.
Q4U: What has God carried you through? Have you heard Him singing a song over you?
Psst…. I am giving away copies of two great books by Max Lucado and Beth Moore here.
Every Monday we will be working our way through Anne Graham Lotz’s 52-week study “Into the Word.” Hop on over to the 3dLessons4Life Blog Facebook Page to join us as we dig into God’s Word together.

Oh, I am praying for you, Lyli, in room 405b! i’m so glad you have your Heavenly Father to give you peace during this time and “carry you through.” What a blessing to hear the lpn singing that song.
He has truly walked with me. So thankful!
May the Lord bless you and comfort your heart during this time of waiting. Great posting and much needed. How we all need to trust in Him during times of suffering in our lives!
Thank you!
Lyli, may your smile and hopeful spirit be a blessing to those around you, even as you endure this trial right now. Your post encourages me today, as you are the one in the hospital room and seeking to encourage those around you! Praying for you.
Thank you, sweet lady. He walks with me today. So thankful.
Though some times He takes us through places we would not have wanted to go, it’s wonderful to have the fellowship of His presence with us and to rely on His strength and grace. I’m glad you’re shining for Him in 405b but I hope He delivers you from there soon to shine for Him wherever He takes you.
thanks, Barbara. I am home now after a 10 day hospital stay. Taking it a day at a time.
He is faithful in the tiniest detail! What a blessing to hear truth and encouragement sung to you in a hospital bed. “He works all things together for good for those who love Him!” And thank you for sharing your story with our Do Not Depart community.
He is faithful!
