Green Light

Green Light

Β

Tonight, God got my attention.Β  It happened so unexpectedly.

After six years of taking the turnpike home from work, I finally got off at the exit and didn’t have to sit at the light for an eternity.

The light was glowing green.Β  I whizzed right through the intersection and never put my foot on the break at all.

And, He reminded me as I sailed by that that’s how it happens.

One day, the light just turns green.

Maybe you are like me.Β  Right now, you are sitting at a figurative red light.Β  You are faithfully traveling on the road of life, and you have both hands firmly on the steering wheel of faith, but you’ve reached an impasse that seems permanent.

Maybe you’re tired of sitting there waiting for God to wave you on through the intersection.

I tell you, sometimes life seems like an endless game of “Red Light, Green Light”Β  Doesn’t it?

I read something tonight that reminded me that I just need to put my windows down and turn up the music while I am waiting:

Something to think about…

  1. What a great moment. I love the visuals that we can tie what we’re learning to. And you’re right, one day the light just turns… Thanks for sharing this with us.

  2. Love the visual of life as a game of ‘red light, green light’. So often that’s how the discernment journey feels. Ready for the steady green light, but so often it’s broken up with yellow and red ones.

  3. “One day, the light just turns green.”
And often when we least expect it, or at least not paying attention. We can suddenly sail right through. Yay. Thanks for this sticky analogy, Lylie.

  4. Hi Lyli, Something similar happened to me when I was going through a period where life stopped for awhile. One day I was driving somewhere and I kept getting stopped at red lights. The Lord was reminding me that right now I am stopped at a red light and have some things to work through with Him before I continue on the journey. I love how the Lord spoke to you in such a similar way. Blessings! Love, Rachael @ Inking the Heart

  5. Now it doesn’t surprise me that those wise words came from Elizabeth E. :0) Smiling as I think of the beauty they unfold in my mind… He is stepping into every step and it is ok to wait because we are waiting with Jesus and that is right where we need to be.

    Bless you Lyli!

  6. Hey Lyli … I love when He makes it crystal clear like that. That’s what I need … to know FOR SURE what He wants.

But sometimes the colors are hard to discern.

Oh for the faith to just keep following whatever light He chooses to shine on the path ahead.

May this weekend bring you lots of deep rest!

  7. He’s so patient with us – isn’t He? It just takes us time to finally listen – and then it is just like soaring through green lights! So glad you had that happen – literally and figuratively!
