Every Breath You Take
When the world is crashing in, it’s hard to breathe.
And, maybe you aren’t even sure if you want to keep gulping for air.
Sometimes life hits you in the gut. You find yourself in a dark cage where the oxygen is slowly slipping away, and you cannot see an escape route.
Job lost it all. He questioned. He fought. He was human.
It’s okay to struggle. God will meet you in the midst of the abyss.
Sometimes, we learn to breathe more purely when we almost lose our lives.
On the other side, every single breath is a miracle.
Like Job, you can be thankful for three things in the midst of any midnight hour:
- Life is a gift: You get to breathe today. God is not finished with you yet. Greater things are yet to come.
- You are loved: Your Lover died in your place to make sure that you’d never have to face eternal darkness. Love and light are your eternal destiny.
- You are secure: God is your Defender. Like a military sharp shooter, He can see the enemy clearly in the blackest night and eliminate the danger.
Every breath you take is significant to God.
Something to think about…

Breathing Exercise:
Read Psalm 91. Make a list of all the ways that God protects you from the storm. Breathe the words of this psalm as a prayer to your God.

Oh Lyli, I’m breathing deep today. What wonderful truth. My destiny is light and love.
I didn’t know about your series for October. Beautiful idea. π
I love the idea of a PS 91 breathing exercise, Lyli! Great idea, one I’ll dig into today. Praying for your safety as you ride out the storm!
“You get to breathe today. God is not finished with you yet.” Amen, Lyli! I loved reading this today … thank you. π
Lyli,
I commend you on tackling the 31-Day challenge. I did it for two years, and this year I didn’t feel a leading, and just couldn’t commit. I enjoyed your post today, and plan on following the rest of the month (if I can remember).
.
I am so loved – that fits so beautifully with what I’m sharing today. It’s something I try to be very purposeful to remind myself of in those air-gulping moments! God loves me and there is NOTHING that will ever change that!
I don’t get over here very often on Thursday’s but I’m so happy to be linking-up today, Lyli. I’d love to invite you over to celebrate the last day of my blog re-launch and being so loved!! Thanks for hosting me (us all) today!
I just finished reading a section in βEveryone Brave Is Forgivenβ about a girl who was drowning. Listening to her struggle for every breath (and eventually get rescued!) brings home your point even clearer. Every single breath is a miracle.
It is His breath that is in us, so naturally He watches over our every breath π Job 33:4
“The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty gives me life.
Thanks for hosting this linkup and allowing me to join in! I’m now following you and looking forward to reading more posts!
