5 Good Reasons to Break Away
Hello there, friends! I am currently on break. I plan on reading a few good books and staying in my pajamas as much as possible. I refuse to paint my face, iron out wrinkles, or slave over the stove.
My hair is in a permanent pony tail, and my sun glasses are near by. Β I have no idea where I put my monthly bills or bank statements. I left them behind with the dust bunnies.
I packed my comfy pillow, my favorite pen, and a blank notebook.
I will eat plenty of watermelon and drink tall glasses of iced tea with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
As the waves crash into the shore, I will marvel at the majestic beauty of God’s creation.
Next week, I will address the Β laundry. Β Maybe.
For now, I am off duty.
I do have a few things on my to-do list this week, and I wanted to share them with you today. Β If you are a people pleaser and busy body, I hope I haven’t scared you off from reading any further.
5 Good Reasons to Break Away
To Pray
Lift up your heart to heaven and share your secrets with Jesus.
“…but Jesus often slipped away to be alone so he could pray.” (Luke 5:16, NCV)
To Ponder
Listen for His voice in the quiet and ask Him to light your path.
“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings…Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil.” (Proverbs 4:20 & 27, NKJV)
To Praise
Unplug from the noisy world an plug into worship. Rehearse God’s goodness and grace.
“Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me.” (Psalm 103:1-2, NLT)
To Purify
Refresh your spirit as you slow down and rest at His feet.
“Then Jesus said, ‘Letβs go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile…’ ”
To Prepare
Catch a glimpse of the greater things your God has planned. Set a few goals to stretch your faith.
“My heart has heard you say, ‘Come and talk with me.’ And my heart responds, ‘Lord, I am coming.’…Teach me how to live, O Lord, Lead me along the right path…” (Psalm 27:8 & 11, NLT)
Commune with Christ in the quiet, and your break away might just lead to a break through.

Lyli, I have no words. This here is powerful > “… your break might just lead to a break through.” Amen! Amen! Amen! Enjoy every single moment of your break! xo
Thanks, friend. It took me years to realize how important it is to slow down & make room for rest.
Enjoy your break! It sounds absolutely wonderful!
Thanks, Michelle. I am trying to do a bit of writing, but I am finding I have a short attention span.
Yes indeed! Powerful words there at the end. I know I need a break, but we are mid-move and the finish line keeps moving. Praying your break provides all you need to return refreshed! Blessings!
Praying for your move this morning, Liz. When I moved into this house & married Bruce, it took me forever to fully unpack & feel really settled in. — Where did I get so much stuff? — I told Bruce I would never move again. Just bury me in the backyard. — Hugs to you as you pack & plan.
Your summer break sounds delightful, Lyli, right down to the splash of lemon juice! Thank you for this five important reminders today! Blessings on your weekend!
Mmmm….that sounds perfect Lyli! I hope all of that is true for you on this blessed break and you return refreshed and restored.
Thank you, Ann. So sweet of you to to stop by and leave a little comment love today! xo π
Praying the beach is a place of rest and refueling. Love your reminder of the benefits of getting away.
Thank you, sweet friend. Hugs
I’m spending quite a bit of time in messy buns, with ice tea, and no cares – but not as much as I’d like. Planning a little getaway soon to unplug all together and stick my toes in the sand. Enjoy your break, Lyli!
Enjoy your summer, Tiffany!!!!
I definitely need one of those! It’s been too long, but I’m in a season where a full blown get-away isn’t possible. π But God has been faithful. I’m taking grandkids to a month-long drama camp and since it’s a bit of a drive from my house, I camp out at the nearest MacDonalds with my laptop and a tall glass of iced coffee. It’s almost 4 hours of uninterrrupted time to myself 5 days a week & 2 weeks to go! Glorious!
Sweet! Enjoy it. A haven looks different during different seasons… but we must still make room for those moments of rest. Hugs
It’s so important to break away and so hard to do sometimes. We need those times of refreshment more than we realize sometimes. Thanks for your timely reminder and refreshing post. Blessings to you!
What wonderful reasons to break away, Lyli. Hope you have a marvelous time doing nothing but nourishing things!
I love that: Lord, I am coming!
I wonder how many times my heart has said that and God has been kept waiting.
Enjoy your respite to the fullest. As i’ve been praying from Eph. 3: to be filled up to all the fullness of God. !
Thank you, friend. Love Ephesians 3 & pray it over my crew frequently.
It sounds marvelous. You have encouraged me to do the same. I just need to figure out when to carve it out. Thank you for hosting the link-up. Enjoy your time.
Enjoy your break and thanks for hosting!
