Be a Light
My husband and I decided to take a big step of faith a few weeks ago. We prayed a rainbow prayer. We moved forward believing that God is able to do the impossible.
But, sometimes the pathway to a miracle is filled with potholes and roadblocks. The road is unpaved and seemingly un-safe.
So, I started to wonder, “Does God really want me to go this way?” Surely, it would be smoother sailing if God had appointed this journey. Maybe this is a “me” thing, and not a “God thing.”

On Monday, God wanted me to know without a doubt He had divinely called me to walk this road. So, He sent me a very clear message.
I found my confirmation in the most unlikeliest of places. I was sitting on a toilet in the ladies’ restroom at work. I looked straight in front of me and saw my sign. It was literally hanging on the inside of the bathroom stall door staring back at me.
Be a light in the darkness.

Lord, did you really just tell me to “go for it” while I am sitting in a public restroom?
Indeed, He did.
Be a light, Lyli. I will give you the fuel.

so that they can see your good deeds
and give honor to your Father in heaven.”

Q4U: Is God calling you to take a step of faith and “Be a Light” in a dark place? I would love to hear your story.
Thanks for stopping by! I would love to connect with you on Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest.
Dear Lyli
Oh yes, dear friend, He certainly asked me to do a difficult thing and equipped me abundantly to do it with my illness. I feel that deep calling to help people understand the real Gospel of a Jesus, of grace, about faith that is nothing more AND nothing less than our ability to receive God’s ability by grace through Jesus who lives in us. Jesus told us that not many are seeking this was, that life lived in Jesus, abiding in Him. I think He told the religionists of His time that narrow is the way and few find it! In Philippians 3:18 Paul was warning them again with tears about the religionists who’s conduct shows that they really were enemies of the cross of our Beloved Lord.
Blessings and lots of love XX
Mia
He is the God of grace … grace upon grace. What an amazing God we serve! 🙂
Don’t you just love it when God shows up in the most unlikely places!!!! And the thing is …. when He gives you the go ahead, He also equips you with everything you need. Great post, Lyli!
He is full of surprises, our Abba. 🙂
I totally believe He spoke to you in the restroom. I think He often does something so unexpected that we have to believe it came from Him! Great story!
Yep, I didn’t exactly indicate what the sign says — not ready to share that yet, but it was a clear message.
It is funny how He speaks sometimes but what I find even more amazing is the confirmation of peace after when we know we just heard from the Lord. Be a light…we all need to hear that. Blessings to you! Love, Rachael @ Inking the Heart
He is faithful, Rachael. So thankful for His peace! 🙂
I love your story!
I’ve had some of my best prayer times while in the shower, so why not while sitting on the toilet? 🙂
So lovely to “meet you,” Shannon! I will keep an eye out for Him in the shower… 🙂
God speaks to me in all sorts of unusual ways. I get emails from Him. There was a TV commercial. And Facebook. So I’m not surprised at all. I can’t wait to hear what He said to you! ❤
Thanks, Micey! Praying for you during this new season — that you would be refreshed and renewed.
Oh this made me smile. I love how God shows up in those unlikely places. Still smiling…
And this resonated with me as there is a place I feel Him calling me to but I keep pushing because it isn’t where I want to go. Saying that out-loud is hard. I’m so glad you linked this up for Three Word Wednesday. Much love to you Lyli.
Praying for you, Beth. Why is it that it’s so hard to take that first big step of faith?
Oh I just love the ways that God speaks to us. I had to chuckle! God always speaks to me when I’m in the bathroom too! It’s one of the only quiet places in my home!
Barbie, the bathroom is a mom’s haven, right? 🙂
Thankful for the way God confirms and affirms our ability to hear Him. And perhaps the most important aspect of seeing that sign is that you were actually paying attention to it. He is always speaking, but we aren’t often listening. Blessings to you as you step out and trust.
Shelly, I haven’t actually shared what the sign said because we are treading slowly right now… but trust me, this sign was one I could not have missed. And, because this bathroom is at my place of employment, I get to see the sign every day… a daily reminder.
He never ceases to amaze me.
God just doesn’t give us any privacy, does he? This reminds me of when my eldest was potty-training. I remember in Sunday school I was teaching the kids that God sees everything, He is always watching over you. And my little one said, “Even when I”m using the bathroom?”
You are such a light, Lyli. How you do shine. I am praying for you and your dear ones, sweet sister.
You will be “un-surprised” when I tell you that I was actually doing an online study of Psalm 139 this week… no, He doesn’t give us privacy. 🙂
Thanks for those prayers, Laura. This week was quite a roller coaster ride at our house — up one day, then crashing down the next. We are holding on to Him for dear life right now.
One thing I can definitely say about walking with the Lord — it’s never boring. 🙂
My most open moment to Him is when I’m taking a bath. Maybe our mind is quiet during these necessary routine things 🙂 I guess He truly finds us everywhere.
So true! I find that my life is way too noisy. It’s in the quiet that He speaks the loudest.
Wow. What a great reminder. Walk in faith and He will give me the fuel. Sometimes I need the nudge, so thank you.
Deanna, so glad you stopped by. Nudges are good for the soul. Sometimes I need a shove though. I am stubborn and slow to learn. 🙂
I love this, Lyli! yes, where God calls he will equip! So thankful for small signs that he is at work in and through us! What a privilege! And thanks for linking up with me at Wed. in the Word!
Yes, your comment reminds me of that quote — “God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called… ” or something like that. 🙂
Lyli – Always love God’s little confirmations throughout the day! Reminds me of where it says, “God is always speaking to us, sometimes in one way…sometimes in another.” Can’t wait to see where this “light in the darkness journey” takes you friend!
Thanks, Jen. We are in a “wait and see” phase right now. Waiting is so hard sometimes!
