How to Find Strength in the All-Powerful Name of Jesus
The events of this week hang heavy on my heart. As I watch the news coverage, I wish I could just press a permanent pause button on the wickedness in this world.
Jesus, help us!
This simple prayer was the cry of my heart this week. My soul longed for Jesus to come down and make it all better.
When life makes no sense, the only solution is to seek the One who suffered more than I will ever understand to save this world from sin.
Jesus knows how to turn things around and transform darkness into light.
When sin is great, Christ’s love is greater. His name speaks life and peace louder than any other voice.
The name of Jesus is All Powerful.
This week I have found comfort in 5 names of my death-defeating Savior.
How Find Strength in the Name of Jesus
Redeemer
Jesus is a rescuer, and He wars for us when we are in need of ransom. He longs to flood all the dark spaces of our lives with His light and love. (Job 19:25, Isaiah 59:20; Colossians 1:13-14)
Cornerstone
No matter how unstable this world gets, Jesus is a bedrock foundation under our feet. We stand secure in Christ. (Psalm 118:22, I Peter 2:4-8)
Prince of Peace
In the midst of chaos, Jesus speaks peace over our lives. As we press into His presence, He will calm the storm within us as the battle rages without. (Isaiah 9:6; Ephesians 2:14)
Immanuel
God is with us. He is intimately involved in every aspect of our lives. The Spirit of the Resurrected Christ indwells us and is at work. His wonderful plan for us cannot be thwarted by wicked schemes. (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23)
Faithful and True
Jesus will keep His promises. He is a warrior who fights for us and will fully defeat all wickedness one glorious day. (Psalm 33:4; Revelation 19:11)
As we talk with our neighbors and co-workers about difficult events during dark times, let’s remember to bring Jesus into the conversation. Let’s tell them about the Savior who embodies the hope and help they are desperately seeking.
Find strength by fixing your thoughts on the all-powerful name of Jesus.

Lyli, this is powerful encouragement for me today. Had kind of a hard week to start with and then was saddened by the news of Florida. What got me most is that I’ve become hardened/deadened to news like this because I’ve heard it so many times. But of course the loss of life was even more devastating still. Thanks for reminding us that Jesus overcomes.
I am with you, friend. Hard week. And, I want my heart to stay tender. Fighting with you on this front.
Only Jesus! If we’d just keep this truth in mind, and share it every chance we get! Only Jesus can save, and He’s still in control. Thanks for this reminder, Lyli. Blessings to you.
Like you, Lyli, I was crying out for God’s intervention in the wake of this week’s crisis. I’m now praying that He will stir the hearts of the survivors to new faith, and empower the Christians in the area to reach out. So sorry it happened in your state. Sharing your post on Twitter and Pinterest.
Thanks for praying for us in Florida, Sarah. My prayers echo yours. HUGS
Yes! We find hope, not in our circumstances of shock and horror on repeat, but in the character of God. HE has been faithful and will continue to be. “Because of His mercies, we are not consumed . . .” Thanks, Lyli, for healing and hopeful words.
I am thankful for that passage in Lamentations 3, friend. It comforts me during dark weeks like this one.
I know your heart hurts exceptionally so, living so close to the school. 🙁 I can hardly bear to think about it. Lord, have mercy on us all!
We haven’t turned the TV on once this week, Lisa. I just can’t bear to watch. We’ve read some news reports and prayed instead.
I have been marked by this tragedy too Lyli, and I’m praying right alongside you! Jesus be near.
HUGS
I’m praying for everyone affected by this terrible tragedy. May God give us all strength as only He can.
Thank you, praying sister.
I am so thankful He is strong enough to carry this weight for us, and I trust He will give us what we need to move forward.
Lyli I love the names of Jesus. Thanks for sharing your prayers for the home and the link-up.
Thank you for these bedrock truths in these troubling times.
Yes, praying for Florida.
Yes, more people on their knees. He is right there waiting for us.
How do we come to him, like this:
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. Psalm 51:17
He is waiting to heal us. How much longer must he wait.
Thanks for hosting!
I’m praying the name of Jesus more and more, Lyli.
There is no one else who can break every chain …
Lyli, Thanks for the encouragement to turn our hearts and fears to the Lord. It is the heart of all issues. We need to be strong to help others. We need to reach out and love those around us. When we know Him, He seeps out to those around us. You are an inspiration!
