A Lifetime Guarantee

All day long today my left hand felt lighter.Β This morning, I placed my wedding rings in the protective care of my husband — he volunteered to “take one for the team” and drive to the mall as the rings were overdue for their bi-annual inspection and cleaning.
I’ve never had such nice jewelry.Β Marriage does have its perks!Β I’ve worn those beautiful rings on my left hand every day for five years, and today just felt odd without them.Β I missed their weight.
When I got home from work, I learned that the rings had not made it home from the mall.Β My wedding set is on an extended vacation for two weeks because they need to be rhodium plated to prevent further yellowing.Β I guess my white gold rings are kind of gold-plated.Β It’s like a really expensive ring set from the Cracker Jacks box.
After church tonight, I sat down to read through Psalms and came across a passage that reminded me of what true treasure is:
Godβs reputation is twenty-four-carat gold,
Β Β Β Β with a lifetime guarantee…Godβs Word is better than a diamond,
Β Β Β Β better than a diamond set between emeralds…Β (Psalms 19:9-10, MSG)
God’s word is solid gold, girls.Β Only the enemy gives counterfeit gifts from the Cracker Jacks box.
Something to think about…

Thank you for hosting!!
What a great analogy.
Lyli – a most beautiful analogy!!! Those verse read so powerfully in the MSG. Thank you for sharing them today! And no matter what….our rings will always be most beautiful to us because of what they represent.
My hand would feel funny, too, Lyli. It’s one of those things you don’t think about until it’s gone. We take so many {good} things in life for granted, don’t we? Love your inspiring posts – thanks for hosting!
Love this thought! God and His Word comes with a lifetime guarantee. And we experience the bless of that daily!
Thanks for hosting! ~Pamela
I love that God sent you those verses at this time, Lyli. He’s a very cool God. π Hope the time flies for you while you’re ringless so you’ll have them back in no time.
Lyli,
What a great word picture…what an encouraging truth π Hope you get your rings back soon π A blessed Thursday to you π
I hadn’t read those verses in the Message version before… I like it very much! Especially the lifetime guarantee part!
I don’t have my wedding ring. Long story. I hope to replace it one day!
It does always feel strange to take my rings off. I take them off when I ride my bike because my hands tend to swell but otherwise they are always on. I loved your post. Always do. Blessings to you, friend. xoxo
