4 Ways to Get on Mission in August

4 Ways to Get on Mission in August | lylidunbar.com

Hello, August!

Is it just me, or is 2017 flying by? I feel like summer just started yesterday, and it’s actually already half over. This year feels like it’s slipping through my fingers super fast.

Can you relate?

On August 1st, I turned the page to the new calendar month fresh with promise and decided I wanted to make the most of the weeks I have left. I want to squeeze more Jesus into my summer.

Want to join me? I’ve got some ideas to share with you.

4 Ways to Get on Mission in August

  • Host a prayer tea. Invite a few friends over, put a kettle on the stove, and warm up the atmosphere as you knit your hearts together through intercession. Fight on your knees for your family members who are lost.
  • Buy a card with a Scriptural promise on it and write a note to a loved one sharing how you are praying these words for them.  Share how God loves them more than you do.
  • Fire up the grill and throw a BBQ for your neighbors. Prepare a few “conversation starters” on slips of paper with thought-provoking questions. Pass them out as you finish your meal and watch the Holy Spirit ignite some hearts.
  • Go live on Facebook and share a two-minute God story.  What did you read this week in your Bible?  How has God answered your prayer?  What did you learn in church?  I dare you to share it.

Summer is full of possibility.  Let’s make every moment count for the Kingdom.

  1. You are so right! Summer flew by. I love the idea to buy a card with Scripture and then pray that scripture over a friend. I think small notes of encouragement go a long way – especially handwritten and this takes it to the next level. Love the idea of the conversation starters too!!

  2. I considered posting a FB video about in my writer’s group. Now, I have to do it. You’re dare pushed me over! As ALWAYS, your post inspired me!

I admire your consistent and substantive posts!

  3. Summer did fly by, except for me, this year, it’s a little longer. If I was still teaching, this would be the first week of school. Instead, I’m still able to enjoy summer. Of course, I’m crazy busy packing to move in 2 weeks and finishing up my “farewell tour.” Love these suggestions for squeezing more Jesus into my summer!
