31 Days to Fruitful Living — Day 9

You must water purposefully.   Never let the roots become dry.   During a “hot, stressful season” or a drought, more watering is required than normal.  Remember this rule of thumb: “The more you water, the more juicy fruit will be produced.”

This principle seems simple, but yet we forget and fail to follow through.  Spiritually, I must establish a “watering schedule” to prevent “drought stress” on my soul’s roots.   Allowing my inner man to become dry damages my fruitfulness.

I must regularly let the water of the Word soak deeply into the soil of my heart.

“My blessing is on those people who trust in Me,

who put their confidence in Me.

They will be like a tree planted near a stream

whose roots spread out toward the water.

It has nothing to fear when the heat comes.

Its leaves are always green.

It has no need

to be concerned in a year of drought.

It does not stop bearing fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8, NET

Q4U:  How do you stay well watered and combat spiritual drought?

Thanks for joining me for Day 9!

Come back tomorrow for Day 10 of “31 Days to Fruitful Living.” We will chat about how to protect your fruit during a frost. I may have a black thumb, but I am determined to learn how to cultivate my spiritual life.

  1. Dear Lyli
I have found that there is just one way to do this, and that is abiding in the Living Word, our Lord Jesus, moment by moment allowing His life to be the Fountain of Life that waters my life continuously.
