31 Days to Fruitful Living — Day 28

offering hands; meekness

To cultivate the fruit of gentleness, one must surrender personal rights.    The meek wholeheartedly offer themselves to an awesome God in reverence.  I love how Pastor Chuck Smith explains it:

“The word meek can probably best be defined

by putting a hyphen in the middle of it: me-ek.

It is again looking at myself in the light of the Lord

and realizing that I am nothing.”

Gentleness understands that glory is for God alone.

Gentleness finds freedom in surrender.

Gentleness ceases to shove and strive in a patronizing world that pushes and prods.

Gentleness accepts that sheep need a shepherd.

Gentleness sits at Jesus’ feet, rather than standing on a stage.

Gentleness willingly steps aside so that God’s work can move forward.

Gentleness chooses to wear a garland of grace, rather than a crown.

Q4U:   How do you define meekness?

Thank you for joining me for Day 28!

  1. Oh yes, Lyli … giving up all those rights that we hold so dear, that we grasp onto so tightly … this is a hard task, but so needed if we are to love and serve like our Redeemer calls us to! Thanks for putting this oh-so-needed message on the table today. God knows we need to go there!
